Eat your heart out, Shel Silverstein!

You, too, Oscar Wilde.

This lovely children's story has echoes of Silverstein's "The Giving Tree" and Wilde's "The Happy Prince" and "The Selfish Giant." And it was inspired by "House" -- specifically by the friendship between House and Wilson. It made me cry ... at work.

Go read it and leave the author lots of good comments; this story deserves them:

(You may need to click the "yes, I'm over 14" button to get there, if you're not signed into LJ. There is nothing objectionable in the story; I think she just defaults her LJ there because she does write some adult stuff.)
